mbsurfwaker
Hi all - Bought a 2017 MB F21 last summer and love it. We're building a dock and I'm undecided on the best layout. Option 1: much easier to dock given the boat pulls counter-clockwise in reverse BUT tight fit with neighbor to the south Option 2: harder to dock, but more room for me to maneuver (but still tight for neighbor to south) We're in a no wake zone so water is usually fairly calm. Note: I can't shift the dock further north as both layouts are just inside the setback required for the permit (blue line). Pics not exact scale. What would you do? AZ_MB
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the future boat house! I'm jealous 😄 Are there restrictions on the orientation? A good friend of mine has a place on Lake Rabun in Georgia and most of the boat houses there are rotated 90 deg from your drawings which allows for straight in & out access. That would be simpler than coming in sideways. Example attached. Most are two story as well which provides a nice amount of for eating and hanging out. Jumping off the top level was fun too! Between options 1 & 2 I'd go with #2. It should be easier to dock as you can almost make a straight shot at it due to the curve of the shoreline if you get close to the current neighbors dock. jtryon
i'd go #2 as well.
mbsurfwaker
Thanks great advice. I'm leaning towards #2 as well. Lake construction is heavily permitted (thank you CA) and yes, there's some reason we can't do 90 degree. We're also limited on sq. foot and single story. bloodiestcadaver
I would do option 2. more because when pulling out, your drifting toward the deeper end. Not sure how shallow it is near the bank. AZ_MB
The Donfather
Go with 2 and back it in. then pull straight out

JayTee
What about the wind? I would take that into consideration as well. Birddog7.62
Birddog7.62
prevailing wind would be my biggest consideration.
