Internal Ballast Tank - Leaking

Recommended Posts

I have a 2013 MB Tomcat.  The passenger side ballast tank has a slow leak that fills up the engine well and bilges the water out.  I don't think it is leaking from the drain or the boot, I think it is leaking from the tank.  Has anyone had problems with this?  Any suggestions on how to find and fix the leak would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Have you fully tested it to isolate the port side ballast as the issue? Meaning, no ballast = no water in the engine well. Starboard side ballast only = no water in the engine well. Port side ballast only = water in the engine well. If so, that would indicate that the issue is with the port ballast tank. Have you pulled the carpet access panel where the Drainmaster gate valve is located to ensure that the fittings are tight? I would even look at this when the ballast is full and see if you see any water leaking out. The other thing to look at is the air outlet hose. Did the hose clamp come off and water is leaking from there? If all of that looks good then the problem seems like the tank itself which is probably going to be pain to fix. I would take the trays and locker dividers out so you can look around more easily and see if you can spot where the water is coming in at.

Thanks for the reply.  I have checked all the things you suggested, the problem is definitely coming from the port side ballast only.  I also pulled up the carpet and checked, but it looked good.  I'll check again to make sure the fittings are tight.  My concern is it is the tank.
