Change both Valves and install in the Valterra switches that come with it. They are way better. They valves install sideways. Don’t tug on it too hard;) There is help here if you need it. Also, is it necessary to make cut out bigger in floor to make it fit? I notice in your picture cut out size is significantly bigger than mine... Thanks again! Justinv
One of my drainmasters has failed. I can turn it manually but when I hit the switch at the helm theres no opening and closing noise like there is on the port side gate. Do you guys know if it could be a blown fuse and if the gates share a fuse or are on different fuses? The only fuse box I can access easily is the one on top of the motor. Can’t tell if theres a separate fuse box up under the helm somewhere.

However, there is an in-line fuse on the wires up behind the switches. Chances are it is fine. You’ll need to remove the switches and pull the wires a bit to expose the fuses.. but by then you might as well re-wire them to the new Valterra gates. It’s 100% worth the upgrade. Folsom Surfer
Hi All, I have replaced the gates on my old 2011 B52 and like others, I had to shorten the PVC pipes to reinstall. That said, I am very concerned around how to resilicon it to the transom from within the boat and I am considering redoing it b/c this assemble is an engineering hack. I found a stainless steel welding fitting that fits into the rubber hose and the hole in the transom perfectly so I will have a clean solid fitting from the back of the boat through to the valve assembly. My challenge is removing the external chrome trim piece on the transom without damaging the gelcoat etc I removed the screews and tried to gently pry at it but it looks like it's glued in place, thoughts? I wouldn't touch it up or redo it unless there was a leak. My PVC pipe broke free from the inside of the transom I used good amount of 5200 to seal it up. It doesn't look pretty but its all covered in the end by the lid. The rubber hose and valve flanges will have a small gap but as long as the hose clamps are secured you should be fine. Hasn't leaked or sunk yet. If you are dead set on it, maybe you can apply heat to the external trim piece to try to break it free but there is risk to that.
