FAE install-suggestions

Recommended Posts

stupid computer,,,

So what I was trying to say is that I am a little concerned about getting things lined up correctly.  Also the directions seem a little incomplete.  Does the 3m 5200 really take a week to dry?  they say keep the boat out of the water for a week after install?

We waited 24 hours to dry

Also as stated just take your time and align things up.. triple check your holes you're going to drill. Also make sure you take pictures of the drilling to give a few people thrills on this site :)

So I got the old tip off and most of the silicone sealant the factory used.  The Debond that FAE sent was a huge help.  Tomorrow I will be doing more dry fitting and filling the old screw holes with some 5 min epoxy and then hopefully mounting the thing for real.

Several of you said to make sure it is strait, how do you go about that?  My boat is sitting a little sideways on the trailer and the trailer is sitting on uneven ground.....

You can measure from the pipe to the corner of the boat on both sides to measure center and then hold it and have someone stand back and eyeball it to the rudder to make sure it was built straight and then have them mark your holes while you continue to hold.

If you mess with the King's Queen, you better watch your Ace Jack!

OK so I may have a problem, is the fresh air exhaust supposed to be in line with the rudder, which is slightly offset or in line with the prop which is more in the center of the boat? The fresh air exhaust is definitely to the starboard side, it is in line with the Rudder not the prop

So I spoke with Larry and he said it's fine if it centered with the prop or the rudder, and there is no way of centering it with the prop. It would have to be remade. I'm just about done with the install just need to finish the support bracket !

I am trying to install today. However they forgot to include the Debond with mine. Any other suggestions on getting the old exhaust tip off? Do you need the debond to lossen the old one?

So I used the hell out of the debond, did it work?  I assume so but don't know.  I will say that they factory used silicon looking sealant not 5200 looking stuff.  The wedges were key, with out the wedges I don't think it would have come out.  See if you can get something from the hardware store that will kill the silicone.
