CA Emission Hang Tag needed.... or advice.

Does anyone have a CA Emissions Hang Tag they did not need or did not use? I really need one so I am reaching out to you guys as my last resort.

I purchased my 2010 F23 in Oregon, paid CA DMV over $3500 in fee's and this is the last thing I need. It is just a CA Emissions Hang Tag that is not registered to any Hull ID or engine serial number. I simply need to show/submit one to DMV.

I spoke to the original dealership, MB factory, a PCM dealer and PCM factory and reached a dead end.

Likely, an MB from out of state will have one that was not needed to originally register in that state.

OR

advice on how to register it w/o a CA emissions hang tag (which I believe is not possible).

Thank in advance.

The tags are hung on the motors when shipped from PCM (all engine manufactures) to MB for install. The dealers then send the hang tags in with registration info to dmv.

I imagine out of state MB’s would have them on them still when the buyer takes delivery from the dealer because they may not be required (and hopefully still hanging on the motor). Kept in a safe place for a fellow MB boat owner in a jamb needing one.

It’s a long shot for sure. But it’s all i can do. Besides sell it.

I greatly appreciate your help.. I don’t know how I overlooked this in the first place. I guess the excitement of making a purchase and what I felt was a good deal. I question the dealer who sold me the boat and his awareness of this... but instead I’m focusing on getting this thru dmv. However I can.

I truly hope it’s there. From what PCM told me, the model number has a “C” next to the “V” meaning “catalyst” engine. If yours has a C, it may still have the hang tag.

Justin are you in Sacramento area? If so I did my out of state boat registration in Chico no problem. They didn’t even look at the boat and were only concerned with the trailer. Trailer need the id numbers on 2 locations so I put stickers on the inside frame of the numbers and no problem.

After they took my taxes on the out of  purchase price of the boat they required the hang tag. I just kept going into the DMV and going to the next service rep. Eventually someone spoke to a manager/didn’t care about it enough to make me get a hang tag that didn’t exists for my boat.

You will need a hang tag if your boat is newer than 2008 and has a “C” in the serial number which stands for catalytic converter or catanium.. I’ll verify that but I’m sure that’s what I recall.

Hi there, I am currently trying to register my 2016 air nautique with the California DMV. Everything has gone through and I’ve already paid in full but they are asking me for the ‘hang tag’. I cannot find any emission label in my owners manual or on the engine itself and I have called a few boat shops in my area but I do not have a nautique dealer in my area and I have been told it will cost me a fee to get a ‘hang tag’. Can someone point me in the right direction to get this emissions tag, please? And thank you.

If your boat has has a catalytic converter/O2 sensors then the engine manufacturer can issue you a new hang tag.  If not, just keep going into the DMV and continue to try to get it pass the representative helping you. I leveled with the Rep and was like "look... this is my situation.... Please help me out".

Also, I once seen that you can order it as though it was an engine part.. but I can't find that part number or link to purchase it. Good Luck.

Bought a Sea-Doo with out-of-state tags locally from a repair shop. DMV is asking for a "Hang Tag". BRP said, "huh?" Explained that it's an emission tag that is hung on the motor before shipment to a dealer and that it should be available as a "part" from the manufacturer.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Just keep going in to the DMV and hopefully the Rep will get the supervisor approval to process it without OR the Rep won't care enough to push the issue.  Good Luck.
